For all of his varied expertise, Verdi is completely self-taught when it comes to interior design— an education that began on the floor of ABC Carpet and Home in NYC. Since then, Robert has designed spaces big and small, for clients such as Eva Longoria, Sandra Bernhard, Bobby Flay, and Cynthia Rowley. The real secret to design success is "...Not really about the period," Robert says, “It ends up being about proportion. It’s about how usable the space is. That’s what people forget—that it’s really about function in the end, and that proportion is kind of the hallmark of good design.”

SURPRISE-BY-DESIGN on Discovery

By the time Robert Verdi was asked to host Discovery Channel's Surprise by Design in 2002, he had already decorated comedian and actress Sandra Bernhard's apartment, planned fashion designer Cynthia Rowley's wedding, and hosted Metro TV's Full Frontal Fashion, a behind-the-scenes guide to the New York fashion industry. And no wonder: Robert's sense of style -- and sense of humor - made him a fan favorite and stand-out on the reality network at the time most known for its documentaries about dinosaurs and sharks.

The Dining experiences

Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS raises and grants funds to organizations that fight HIV/AIDS. Providing treatment and direct care services for people living with or impacted by the disease, offering preventative education programs targeted to populations at risk of infection, or supporting public initiatives.
